The goal of this new re-lighting project was to push further in the search for more dramatic and expressive moods. For this exercise, I used the incredible Environment Desert Gas Station (available on the Marketplace).
My references were well-defined, but the idea was to step away a bit and create something truly personal. I added some assets like the Box Truck, vegetation, mountains, and dust effects.
I adjusted some of the materials to fit the look I was aiming for. The lighting was created from scratch; I tried to keep it simple with real exposure values and used an HDRi sphere for the sky (a method I adopted after taking Tilmann Milde’s Ultimate Lighting Course - In-Depth Tutorial, which has greatly influenced me!).
The camera setup is designed to tell a story while generating tension and suspense by slowly moving through the space, discovering corners and objects that tell stories. The render was done with Lumen directly from Unreal 5.4.
This is my humble pursuit, or at least an attempt to improve in my work. I am passionate about environments and lighting, and my goal and aspiration is to enter the video game industry.
The music belongs to the soundtrack of the film Paris-Texas by Ry Cooder, one of my favorite films, thanks to it I studied film.
